This week in Science students created a Rubber Band Banjo out of rulers and elastic bands. The purpose was the analyze both the sound frequency and pitch for varying points on the ruler and to determine the low and high pitch. Students also participated in the Slinky Lab in which the coils were extended from 2 table legs with attached yarn in the middle. Students released the coils to note the vibration waves of the yarn string. We also viewed a Mystery Doug video on why people from England and Australia have accents in our shared English language. Do they have the different accent or do we? Students took a Sound Energy Check-up on our reading online using Google Forms. This was to practice for the upcoming Sound Energy Quiz TBA. Students also viewed 3 PBS Videos on Sound Energy and responded online using Google Classroom.
This week in Mr. Marrese's History Class students learned about the 5 Themes of Geography - Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, and Region. This helped students with their "Create A Country" Project. Students are being very creative while addressing the aspects of the Grading Rubric.
Here is a video from 2011 that I was an extra in for students to see.
