Greetings!
This week in Science learned about the inner and outer planets of the Solar System. Students saw my newspaper headlining the 1st trip to the Moon from July 16th, 1969. Students also enjoyed the Storybots planet raps and Universe videos. See below.
Students worked in the Google Classroom on video and questions including: What is a Planet?, Solar System Formation, Measuring Distance in the Solar System, Scaling the Solar System, and Light Years.
This week in Mr. Marrese's History Class students read and also viewed PBS video clips on the following: Pilgrims 1st Winter and Mayflower Compact. Students also learned about 17th century artifacts, clothing and design, kitchenware, and tools. We read a couple articles on the economic purpose of the Pilgrims Charter to the New World. Students know that many of the Pilgrims were originally from Holland and continued a poverty stricken life in England while others were persecuted for their religious beliefs and standing up against the Church of England. The Charter came from English investors who put up between $15,000 - $20,000 in today's money to fund the trip with the agreement to receive goods in return to be sold in England for profit. These goods included beaver furs for hats and plywood in a country where these goods were rare. Students began in the Google Classroom video and question assignments entitled "William Bradford, Beaver Trade, Alliance with Massasoit, Plague affects Native Americans and Settlers, and Colonial Boston.
