Update

Greetings!

This week in Math students were quizzed on concepts regarding place value. Next, students practiced multiplying whole numbers using the partial products method. Students completed an area model to gain a concrete understanding of why we use partial products. During Zone Time students selected from a Place Value Choice Board various activities including creating their own quizzes, board games, and posters of how to teach someone else the 10 to 1 ratio of place value and how to express a number in both expanded and word form. Students also began solving a selection of puzzles to reinforce these concepts. To end the week students completed a list of Hailstones following a sequence that always simplifies to the number 1.

This week in Science students completed 2 labs: The Colored Crayon Lab in which students predicted the most dominant color in a baggie, tallied the number of each color, displayed the data in a bar graph, and stated conclusions in comparison to their hypothesis. The Colored Dye Lab in which students observed the mixing of blue and yellow droplets in cups of hot and cold water to determine a difference in the pace of mixing despite the different water temperatures. Observations and conclusions were expressed to finalize the lab assignment.

Enjoy the pictures of students working on their Choice Board Activities in addition to my friend's Patriot Missile 3 which was a Brighton Fire Department Ambulance. May the first 2 versions rest in peace!

Have a great weekend!

Chris
