Update

Greetings!

This week in Science students created a States of Matter Foldable to demonstrate their knowledge of solids, liquids, and gases. I placed ice cubes on an aluminum block and watched them melt rapidly and placed ice cubes on a plastic foam block and watched them melt slowly. We discussed how metal is a conductor for heat. We watched a segment of Mythbusters in which the cast created Oobleck out of  water and corn starch. This non-newtonian fluid acts as both a liquid and a solid.  Next, we applied the acronym 'Scream' to recall the various forms of energy before categorizing images under each heading and completing an activity explaining why each segment fit each description. We watched 2 Brainpop videos on Potential and Kinetic Energy before answering comprehension questions. Finally, we made slime!

This week in Mr. Marrese's History Class students practiced latitude and longitude. We watched a Brainpop video and answered comprehension questions on Continents and Oceans. We also practiced learning US States and Capitals. A quizlet review guide is on its way.

Regards,

Chris
