Update

Greetings!

You will have to excuse me skipping last week's blog. My mother had surgery in Boston resulting in my absence of 2 school days.

In Math students have been multiplying and dividing decimals to prepare for the creation of "The Birthday Bash" Project in which students will plan a budget to calculate individual guest cost. This will include a cake and invitation. There will be 2 Checkpoints for this project. Word Problem Exemplars, Kakooma and Ken-Ken Puzzles, Spiral Review, The Problem of the Week and Tic Tac Challenge assignments continue to challenge students with multi-step problem solving. Enrichment projects are available for students.

In Science students have been learning about the Solar System. This included a quiz on the Moon Phases, daily updates on their Moon Calendar, information on the Solar Systems Planets and their classifications, and stars. We are preparing for our Field Trip to the Christa McAuliffe Institute at Framingham State at the end of the month (See Permission Slip!) There will be work next week to prepare for the study guide for our test. Starting January 26th students will begin to create a Solar System Glog Project on glogster.edu.
I will be sending out email invitations for students to participate in the online JogNog Science Challenge. Students may work on this at home to improve their skills and understanding of concepts. .
