This week in Math students learned about properties of geometry. This included types of polygons, quadrilaterals, and measurement of polygons and 3-dimensional figures. Students devised strategies to find the volume of composed figures. Students also closed some gaps from concepts taught in the prior grades. The "Design A Math Game" Project is due on May 27th.
This week in Science students were treated to an excellent presentation by Julie Cafarella's Grandfather. Students learned about various types of rocks found throughout the world including Gold. I certainly learned a lot as well. Later in the week students completed a Wanted Missing Rock Poster. Randomly selected students had to find the rock after hearing the written description and return it to its owner. Students also tested minerals using kits for its main properties. 3 project ideas will be selected by students from my list to be completed for May 1st.
