This week in Math students began learning concepts in Place Value ending with expanding basic fact patterns by 10, 100, and 1,000. Students expressed these powers of ten using exponents. Students created a Country Learning Poster displaying each population in standard form, expanded form, and word form. Students completed a Math Fact assessment to establish a benchmark. The Boston Marathon Problem of the Week was submitted today.
This week in Science students played the Silent Observation Game. Students also learned aspects of the Scientific Method: Observing and creating a Hypothesis. The Labs involved setting objects in Play-Doh to create fossil impressions along with comparing dry gummy bears with gummy bears that have been submerged in water for 2 hours. Comprehension questions were assigned to end each lab.
