Weekly Update

Hello,

Our Back To School Night was a success. We all look forward to a meaningful and productive year.

This week in Science students participated in the Bouncing Ball Lab. Here, students considered the mass and size of each ball to see which ball retained the greatest percentage of kinetic energy off of the first bounce. Students also calculated averages and created bar graphs to display their data. Students also created Slime to close out their lessons on the States of Matter. Students participated in the Rubber Band Shoot Lab in which they stretched the band 1-5 cm and calculated the distance using a benchmark of 1 floor tile as 30 centimeters. Students created their own bar graph from scratch. Students were also introduced to a brief history of the roller coaster. Students will soon be planning and designing their own roller coasters in groups next week. Finally, students worked on a Study Guide on the Scientific Method, States of Matter, and 2 forms of Mechanical Energy: Potential and Kinetic for next Wednesday's Test.

This wee in History students received a study guide for States and Capitals. Students practiced writing them down to help remember them. A quiz will be given next Friday on States and Capitals, Latitude and Longitude, Compass Points, and the Continents and Oceans. Students were also introduced to the 5 Themes of Geography.

On Monday we have Picture Day. Students will bring their forms with them to the Assembly Hall. All students will be photographed regardless of whether you purchase photos.

Soon students will be given assignments using their devices.

Here's to another great week of learning!

Regards,

Chris
