Update

Greetings!

This week in Science students studied their flash cards in preparation for the Quiz on Earth's Major Systems this past week. Students also read about the 3 Types of Rocks: Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic along with examples of each. This was followed by the Rock Cycle and how each rock type experiences melting, cooling, weathering, erosion, and heat and pressure to create new rock types. Students listened to catchy songs like "We Will Rock You" and "Formed This Way" to hear vocabulary. Students also read articles from Sciencedaily.com to learn about Earth and its rocks about 4 billion years ago. This was to encourage students to pick up a magazine with adult text to learn more in-depth about scientific topics. Finally, students participated in a check for understanding activity using the Plickers App. I scanned their QR Codes with my phone to gain instant feedback on 10 multiple choice questions. Students also used the FlipGrid Site to post short 30 second videos on what they learned this week about rocks and what they would like to learn more about within the topic.

Formed This Way Song

This week in Mr. Marrese's History Class students practiced studying their flash cards for next Wednesday's Explorers Test. We also practiced as a whole class to hear students call out facts and help gain confidence. Students also participated in rehearsals for next Thursday's Play called "America's Best Explorers".

Thanks,

Chris
