Weekly Update!

Hello,

This week in Science students learned about Observations, both Qualitative and Quantitative, and Inferences. Students made a list of observations of a person or animal for homework. We discussed what it means to be a scientist in terms of characteristics, inquiry, and discover. These concepts were applied in the Fossil Lab as students made observations and inferences from impressions made into Play-Doh of various objects like coins, bottle caps, legos, golf balls, and molds. Students were later introduced to creating hypotheses based on scenarios like whether the leaves of a tree will change color with water or without water. Finally, the Science In A Bag Assignment was given today and is due on Thursday. Students were given a directions handout, baggie, and index card.

This week in Mr. Marrese's History class students learned facts about the history of the American Flag, viewed a map of the United States, were given a handout with the States and Capitals, filled out a map with all 7 Continents and 5 Oceans, and a Compass Rose. Students were introduced to how to determine Latitude and Longitude and practiced locating cities on a US Map.

Next week is our first 5-day week and it's sure to be a great one!

Have a great weekend!

Regards,

Chris
