Update

Greetings!

This week in Science students participated in the Balloon Lab to test objects for Static Electricity. Students built up electric charges by rubbing the balloon on various items including nylon, plastic, their clothing and hair to see how the balloons responded to both like and unlike charges. Students completed a review on comprehension questions for Light Energy. Students were given diagram handouts showing the flow of electrons in both open, closed, series, and parallel circuits. We also discussed the channels upon how electricity gets from a power plant to our home service boxes. Students finished up watching Brainpop videos on Electricity and Static Electricity. Earlier finishers have been working off choice boards to demonstrate their talents through various options including slides, plays, posters, etc.

This week in Mr. Marrese's History class students completed their study on the Jamestown Colony and moved onto the settlement of the Pilgrims. Students read letters sent abroad from a Pilgrim girl writing to her aunt about the ride on the Mayflower and ordeals of the 1st year including the 1st harvest and a letter from a Wampanoag girl talking about her observations of the coat people.
We also visited an interactive site to learn more about the Pilgrims way of life.

We are closing grades on Tuesday, November 26th.

Regards,

Chris
