Update

Greetings!

This week in Science students read about the 5 mineral properties to be applied towards the testing of 12 minerals the following day. Students also learned how minerals are utilized for every day household use. Students identified minerals at that home based on a provided checklist. We also learned about quarries, and the creation of bricks from minerals. A comprehension check was made through a vocabulary puzzle and fill-in the blank sheet. Finally, I introduced the Rocks and Minerals project with past student samples and videos.

Due dates:
Students should bring in a rock this Monday for a missing rock activity on Tuesday.
The Planet Earth Slide is past due and some students are making additions to meet the standards.
The Impact on Earth Slide is due Friday, January 31st.
The Rocks and Minerals Project is due Friday, February 7th.

This week in Mr. Marrese's History class students learned about the French and Indian War. We discussed the reasons for the war, how it started, and how Native Americans sided with either the French or the British based on their interests. We also continued our rough draft on the topic "America was the land of opportunity, or not!"

Thanks,

Chris
